COAST CULTURAL ALLIANCE TEAMS UP WITH REALTOR® TO CREATE
INTERACTIVE MAPS FOR UPCOMING SUNSHINE COAST ART CRAWL SECHELT, BRITISH COLUMBIA — October 12, 2010 — The Coast Cultural Alliance, a non-profit arts, culture & heritage society serving the Sunshine Coast region of BC, announced today the immediate availability on the internet of two interactive maps for its first ever Art Crawl on the weekend of October 23 & 24. The maps were contributed by Sechelt real estate agent Gary Little, an expert in the creation of maps such as these. The maps show the locations of over 70 studios and galleries participating in the Art Crawl. More information about any studio or gallery can be obtained simply by clicking its marker on the maps. The Crawl spans the entire Sunshine Coast with participants in Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Sechelt, Sandy Hook, Halfmoon Bay, Madeira Park, Garden Bay, and Powell River. Two versions of the map are available. The first — for desktop or laptop computers — can be viewed at www.sunshinecoastartcrawl.com or crawl.GaryLittle.ca. The second map — specifically designed for iPhone (or iPad) users — can be viewed at icrawl.GaryLittle.ca using the iPhone's web browser. The iPhone version also includes a button for automatically centering the map around the user's current geographic location as determined from cellular network positioning data.
"The Art Crawl will attract hundreds of visitors to the Sunshine Coast and will also be a very popular event for local residents. The quality and breadth of the artistic talent here is just amazing," said Linda Williams, President of Coast Cultural Alliance. "We're excited about these maps because they will make it very convenient for people to plan their weekend and to find the types of art that interest them most. They are a perfect complement to the full-colour printed brochure and map we're also making available to crawlers."
"These interactive maps make it very easy to locate, and learn more about, the dozens of artists participating in this inaugural crawl," said Gary Little of Royal LePage Sunshine Coast. "And with the iPhone version, people can also track down studios while they're on the road anywhere on the Sunshine Coast between Langdale and Lund. I'm pleased to support such an interesting and important cultural event."
